Mid-life can be a time to reset, and put yourself on a path that brings more joy.
The middle season of life often brings a kind of “How did I get here?” feeling. You feel unsettled, wrestling with choices you’ve made in the past, and less-than-fulfilled in your relationships. There can be anxiety, too--about your changing body, how you're perceived by other people, about whether getting older just means settling for less. The question lingers: “Is this it?”
But self-creation is a life-long process and, if we let it, mid-life can be a time of discovery and renewal.
In therapy, I will help you:
Understand how feelings of regret about past decisions can help you make choices now that are more aligned with what you value.
Recognize how even the most challenging life experiences have given you skills and strengths that can benefit you now.
Rediscover (or explore for the first time!) the parts of you that were eclipsed by meeting life’s demands or other people’s expectations.
Learn how awareness of the passing of time can actually bring clarity about what’s most important to you, and point you toward a path that brings joy and meaning.
